Instafake

I get on instagram a lot. And sometimes it is crazy the stories people can make you believe about their life. Would I ever comment on an Instagram post that I think someone is being fake as heck? No. I wouldn’t. But fella, I sure do think it.

For the most part, it is important for all of us fake sensing people to remember, they are just trying to fit in. Really, that is what is happening. Is it still annoying? Yeah. It can be. But surely you have been there too. We all want to fit in to a certain extent. Remember when I called you “fake sensing people” a second ago. I put you in a group. Did it not feel a little good to be in that group? Let’s use that…

They have put themselves into a group too. They are “in” on something that strikes us as fake. At the end of the day, they really might just be doing their best to fit in. Yeah, I know. That is the optimistic view. But ask yourself this, have you decided not to post something because of how you think others will react? That’s because whether you like it or not, you want to fit in. Fitting in has been the way of the earth for so long, but instagram, facebook, social media in general make it appear so much bigger.

So here we go: It is okay to put on a show. And it is okay to not care at all about what is normal. But at some point, we all act a certain way based on our own perception of ourselves or others perception of ourselves. And it doesn’t always mean that is who we are. That really fake picture you saw? Well, they really just want to fit in, give them a compliment, be kind.

However, I don’t think we should ignore how things can get fake really easily. I am just saying being aware doesn’t mean you have to be rude to someone behind their back, in your head or straight up calling it out in their comment section. Yeah, you know it might be a silly fad in a few years. But right now, it is their jam. It makes them a little happier. And behind that trendy scrunchie is a deep complex human being who yes, just wants to fit in. Stop looking at their trendy make up, clothes, hairstyle, friendship bracelets and look underneath. Get to know them. People are not made of their masks. Be kind. Because when you start to nitpick someone elses life, aren’t you wanting it to be more like your own? If that isn’t fake, I don’t know what is.

And yes, I wear those damn scrunchies too.

Thank you so much for reading! I am so happy I started this blog. I hope to bring clarity to this whole “fakers” feeling that we all succumb to at times. Remember, kindness is key.

    1. No, thank you. And your’s is a valid opinion thought it may be one. Trust me, i’ve been having a growing distaste for social media of late due to the negative effects it has on us. Your post is certainly food for thought πŸ™‚

    1. Gosh Sheetal! Here you are again with amazing advice! This rings so true. It really connects with me because I have had really great friends that I found only be being myself. There is, after all, no need to hide around your tribe! πŸ™‚
You remind me of what I really need to hear, Sheetal. You speak with love, kindness, and a lot of empathy. I appreciate you so much! Thank you for reading my post! πŸ™‚
