My Stress Relief

Fella, life pulls us in so many directions. There are so many emotions and memories that we experience. That is why I wanted to tell you what a stress reliever writing poetry is for the college soul.

I am set on track to recieve a degree in Criminal Justice. I want to be a police officer. And as an elective I took a creative writting class. I figured since I like writing, it would be so much fun. And well, as it turns out. I was entirely surprised by the therapeutic nature of creating poetry. A melody for our words. I fell in love with it. In my class, we shared and completed a poetry portfolio. After that I just kept writing poems. Take a look and let me know what you think!

A degree.

So unsatisfying.

I could sit here with coffee,

Just writing.

Defying all for I am crying.

An inside cry that keeps intensifying.

I am sighing.

For all the days I am buying?

Why am I, not yet, flying?

I know, what a sad outlook. But that class made me realize the hobby that makes me truly happy which is writing. However, my degree is still the same. For it is my passion. Writing is only a hobby.

Here’s more. It is about someone special.

No, no, I don’t love you.

Just all the things you do.

Your character.

The things you say.

The way your hair glints in the sun.

When your laugh escapes your lips.

No, I don’t love you.

I know I do not.

I just want the heat of your hand in mine.

As we brave all the rest of our days.

But I will not,

More importantly, cannot say I love you.

Love, I am telling you,

I don’t just love you.

I don’t even know what I, you.

Um, yes. My heart set on fire for someone. I have more love poems relating to that and more poems just about love.

I am just now deciding to add this last one. Enjoy.

Swallow me holy

As the devil drives our car

Into a deep abyss of privacy

Nothing will be like the past

Sip slowly to make me last
